What Equipment Do I Need to Rent for an Outdoor Event?

The success of an outdoor event – whether it’s a concert, a music festival, or a community gathering – depends heavily on the equipment you use. Outdoor Event Equipment Checklist

Outdoor events require different equipment requirements than indoor events. The open environment means gear that can withstand unpredictable weather. 

You also have to factor in poor visibility at night, glare during the day, and environmental noises like car horns, conversations, and planes flying overhead. This means your audio and visual event equipment must be powerful, durable, and versatile enough to adapt to these challenges.

With those considerations in mind, here are some types of event equipment you’ll need:

Audio Equipment

Microphones

The microphones you choose should adequately amplify live sound so that it can be heard clearly over outdoor noise. Dynamic microphones are an excellent option; they can handle loud volumes without distortion. They also have noise rejection capabilities that reduce wind and background noise.

Subwoofers

DJ Equipment

Video Switchers

A video switcher is necessary if you have multiple video sources, such as cameras and playback devices. As its name suggests, it allows you to switch between different video feeds seamlessly and add visual effects. This is particularly important for live-streaming your event or displaying different visuals on multiple screens.

Lighting Equipment

Stage Lighting

Proper stage lighting sets the mood and highlights the performers. LED stage lights are a great option because they are energy-efficient and offer various colors and effects. To cover the entire stage, you’ll need a mix of floodlights, spotlights, and wash lights.

Spotlights
